The 62 Group of Textile Artists presents The Skill of Narrative & Stitched Textiles, the third talk in their popular annual lecture series at the Fashion and Textile Museum. This online lecture will introduce 62 Group members Emily Jo Gibbs and Richard McVetis and their respective projects The Value of Making and The Potential of Stitch.

The Value of Making
Emily investigates how by taking the time to slowly describe someone in stitch you convey your admiration. Celebrating people who make things by the investment of time in making their portraits

The Design Trust MAKE A DIFFERENCE ... AN ONLINE FESTIVAL WITH CREATIVE WOMEN WITH PURPOSE’. We have asked some of our favourite creative women and role models to talk about their bigger purpose but also how they make it happen! .

Through a series on online interviews throughout the month, we are asking these women to share with us WHAT they really do, WHY they do what they do, and HOW they do that. To share their big ideas, what drives them, and what it takes to actually make things happen.

— Amanda Thompson Embroiderers' Guild Member

Brilliant talk. Thankyou for coming. What a fantastic kick start to the new year. Inspirational...Recommending you as a speaker too. Especially refreshing to hear the unvarnished truth of your experience of the business end of a life as a designer maker. Happy new year!
— Deena Beverley Writer and Embroiderers' Guild Member

I Just wanted to let you know, your talk was very much enjoyed yesterday. Several members made a point of saying how impressed they were by not only your work but also your success and modesty about it. We are sometimes asked to put forward the names of good speakers to other branches and I will have no hesitation in doing so for you.
— Viv Scrase, Worthing Embroiderers Guild.

It was lovely to meet you on Tuesday – thanks so much for coming over for the talk.
The group really enjoyed it, and the feedback has been great.
